Matt Kobyluck To Race All-Star Showdown Later This Month
Press Release
“We’re going out there to try and put a third win under our belts,” said Kobyluck, who won in 2006 and 2009. “It’s such a great event because you’re racing against the best there is out there. It’s what every racer wants to do, and winning that race is a feeling like no other.”
Kobyluck is one of the most successful drivers in the history of the Showdown. In addition to his two wins, he has earned two runner-up finishes and a top-five every year except one (2004).
Kobyluck, the 2008 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Champion, finished 10th in his 2009 campaign with three top-five and four top-10 finishes. In a career that has spanned 13 years with the series, Kobyluck has made 178 career starts with 16 wins, 61 top-five and 95 top-10 finishes.
The NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown brings together the best of the best in racing from the United States and Canada for what’s been dubbed the “Daytona 500 of short-track racing, and features a 225-Lap K&N Pro Series East & West All-Star race. The event is broken into three segments – two 100 lap segments followed by a 25-lap dash to the checkers.
Guaranteed starting positions are available to race winners from both the East and West Series, but Kobyluck will be fighting for his right to be in the field.
“We had to qualify our way in the last two years so we’ll be alright,” said Kobyluck. “We’ve developed a good package (at Irwindale) over the years. I know what I’m looking for at different stages of the race.”
The Showdown takes place January 28-29 and will air live on SPEED.
