TJ Reaid Eyes Three-Peat At SpeedFest for Kyle Busch Motorsports at Lanier National Speedway
Press Release“Georgia Native Looks To Score Win in Premier Event In Home State”
MOORSEVILLE, NC (January 19, 2011) – 2010 All American 400 winner TJ Reaid has some added pressure as he leads the Kyle Busch Motorsports Super Late Model efforts at the start of 2011. Normally, the KBM operation has the main man, NASCAR star Kyle Busch, running at Lanier National Speedway (GA) in the CRA Super Series SpeedFest event. This year, Busch, a two-time SpeedFest winner, will be out of the seat and 21-year-old TJ Reaid will be the man who will look to score a third victory for the organization at the Braselton, GA track on January 30th.
“I’m very excited to be teaming back up with KBM in 2011,” said Reaid. “SpeedFest will be a good race for us to kick off our season. We, as an organization, have been really strong there in the past and with it being my home track I think the odds are in our favor.”
Reaid did run SpeedFest in 2010 with limited success and a 26th-place finish after developing brake problems. This year, he and crew chief Chris Gabehart are looking for a little payback for last season’s showing. Reaid will race the same car he took to victory lane at the All American 400, so the car is already a proven winner under his control.
“It’s a very strong piece, so I am really confident it will be just as good at Lanier,” said Reaid. “There is still is a lot of pressure in my second season with KBM. The cars are proven winners and Kyle can get in them anywhere and win so it keeps me focused and on my game more because I know the performance is expected.”
Reaid grew up in nearby Acworth, Georgia and has enjoyed great runs in Pro Late Model competition at Lanier. The track is one of the most unique in the Southeast as it seems to have different characteristics each time the cars roll out on to the 3/8th’s of a mile track.
“I wouldn’t say it’s the most difficult, but it’s definitely unique in its own way,” said Reaid. “It’s very smooth and fast for its size. Also, it’s pretty tough to pass, so you really got to have a good race car to stay out front and out of trouble.”
The CRA Super Series SpeedFest will kick off on January 28th with practice, which will followed by qualifying on Saturday, January 29th. The 200-lap Super Late Model event will then take place on Sunday afternoon, the 30th.
