Press Release
Advertisment

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 21, 2011) — NASCAR announced today that the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown will be broadcast live on Sirius NASCAR Radio on Friday, Jan. 28 and Saturday, Jan. 29.

The race at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale (Calif.) has been dubbed by competitors as the ‘Daytona 500 of short-track racing.’ It is the premier postseason showcase for NASCAR’s touring and weekly series and this year’s event has attracted drivers from across North America as well as Brazil and France.

The field will include 2010 series champions Eric Holmes (NASCAR K&N Pro Series West), German Quiroga (NASCAR Mexico Series) and DJ Kennington (NASCAR Canadian Tire Series); two-time race winner Matt Kobyluck; 2010 NASCAR K&N Pro Series rookies of the year Darrell Wallace Jr. (East) and Luis Martinez Jr. (West); and Max Gresham, who won the NASCAR K&N Pro Series combination race in Iowa last May.

It will also mark the NASCAR debut for action motorsports star Travis Pastrana.

Sirius NASCAR Radio, which is available nationwide on channel 128 for Sirius subscribers and XM subscribers with the “Best of Sirius” programming package, will broadcast beginning at 7 p.m. PT both nights. Broadcasting live from Irwindale will be Sirius NASCAR Radio host and short-track racing authority Pat Patterson and 1995 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion Mike Skinner.

This will be the third straight year Sirius NASCAR Radio has brought fans the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown live. Last year, listeners were able to follow the race-long battle between NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Joey Logano, a former NASCAR K&N Pro Series champion, and talented teenage newcomer Sergio Pena. Logano was able to edge Pena for his second Showdown victory.

The main event of the weekend will be the 225-lap NASCAR K&N Pro Series all-star race on Saturday. It features secured starting spots for the 2010 champions of NASCAR’s developmental series and race winners of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series from the 2010 season.

The schedule will begin Friday with the 75-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Super Late Model race, and include a 50-lap Last Chance qualifier for Saturday’s NASCAR K&N Pro Series race. Saturday also features a 50-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model race.

SiriusXM is the Official Satellite Radio Partner of NASCAR, broadcasting every NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, NASCAR Nationwide Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race live on Sirius NASCAR Radio, channel 128, the only radio channel dedicated to NASCAR 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
