DOVER, Del. – With a focus on introducing more young fans to the sport in 2011, Dover International Speedway has begun work on plans to create a new area at the track to entertain fans of all ages. The new Monster FunZone will be available for the first time on Saturday, May 14, and Sunday, May 15, of the upcoming spring race weekend. Admission to the Monster FunZone is free.

Located outside of Turn 4 of Dover International Speedway, near the Monster Monument at Victory Plaza, the Monster FunZone will provide guests of all ages with added entertainment options. Featured attractions will include interactive games, rock climbing walls, a trampoline jump station, racing simulators, show cars, pony rides, prize drawings and much more.

The Monster FunZone is another addition to the planned entertainment at the track, and will be open on Saturday, May 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and on Sunday, May 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 12: 30 p.m.

Free, live music by the band Modern Bliss will also be featured on the Victory Plaza stage, located near the Monster Monument, on Friday, May 13 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The band Smokin’ Gunz will perform on Saturday, May 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

“The creation of the Monster FunZone adds even more value to a ticket on race weekend,” said Michael Tatoian, executive vice president of Dover Motorsports, Inc. “This year, with our reduced ticket pricing options for fans age 14 and under, it is more affordable than ever before for a family to attend a race.”

Earlier this year, Dover International Speedway announced the move to NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying on Saturday, giving fans a better chance of being on the property to see the qualifying session.

Also new this year, Dover increased the age and reduced the price of junior tickets for those 14 years old and under to just $8 for Friday and Saturday events. The $8 ticket applies to both general admission and reserved seating sections for NASCAR Nationwide Series, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and NASCAR K&N Pro Series East events in 2011. Special youth and family ticket packages are available for Sunday as well, with junior tickets available in select sections of the grandstands for just $10. Special Family Value packages, located in a variety of locations in the grandstands, include two reserved tickets on Sunday, a scanner with two headsets, two hot dogs and two Pepsi products, starting at $99.

NASCAR returns to the Monster Mile on May 13-15 and Sept. 30-Oct. 2, 2011. For more information, or to purchase tickets, call 1-800-441-RACE or visit DoverSpeedway.com.
