RICHMOND, VA (April 28, 2011) — NASCAR K&N Pro Series East driver, Andrew Smith raced to a 13th place finish in the Blue Ox 100 Thursday night at the Richmond International Raceway in Richmond, Virginia.

Smith started 24th and worked his way quickly into the top 15. “I made some aggressive moves on the restarts,” Smith said after the race. “I had to make time while I could.

“There’s a lot of variables that go in to making these cars run at the front of the field,” explained Smith. “I thought everyone on my crew did a great job today. We’re just a touch off on horsepower and handling right now. It doesn’t take much since we’re all running split-seconds apart.”

With another consistent run in Richmond, Smith maintained in the eighth spot in the Series points standings and remains second in the Rookie-of-the-Year chase.

“We got out of here with a respectable finish for the SavannahPawn.com and Kids Charity of Tampa Bay Chevrolet. We’re certainly not happy with 13th but we’re learning more and more each time we go the track,” he said. “I’m excited about Iowa coming up here in a few weeks. I love that track too, and we’ll run well there.”

The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will return to the track for the East-West Series combination race presented by Tompkins Industries at the Iowa Speedway on Saturday, May 21st.
