Brad Rogers looks to continue winning family tradition at Rockingham Speedway
Press ReleaseROCKINGHAM, N.C. (May 12, 2011) – Three times the USAR Pro Cup Series has raced at Rockingham Speedway and three times Clay Rogers has gone to victory lane at the venerable one-mile track.
While the four-time series champion is now racing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, that doesn’t mean a Rogers won’t be vying to make it four straight wins for the family in Saturday’s running of the Advantage Construction Equipment & Parts Carolina 200 presented by Black’s Tire and Auto Services.
When Clay made the decision to move to the RBR Enterprises No. 92 Chevy Silverado for 2011, younger brother Brad Rogers slid into the driver’s seat of the Lamb and Robinson No. 16 Ford Fusion USAR Pro Cup Series ride.
So far, little brother is ably filling big brother’s driving suit. Brad currently leads the USAR Pro Cup points bouyed by a victory at Dillon Motor Speedway two weeks ago.
“There has definitely been an added degree of pressure getting into his (Clay’s) old ride,” said Brad from the Rockingham garage. “Those are some awful big shoes to fill. But we have had some good runs so far – a win, a second and a forth. I’m trying not to put any extra pressure on myself.”
The 2011 USAR Pro Cup season is 26-year-old Brad’s first full-time campaign in any racing series since 2006 and the first racing he’s done since running Trevor Bayne’s car in Pro Cup in 2008.
When it comes to Rockingham, big brother has been willing to offer Brad plenty of advice to help get around the track – not that Brad has neccessarily needed it based on this year’s results.
“He has been a great help and we’ve talked about the fast way around Rockingham,” said Brad. “I actually watched some video of last year’s race and learned a lot about the track. This is the biggest track I’ve ever raced on but we’ve got a capable car that was won here before and I’m excited about our chances.”
Friday, May 13 is pole day for USAR and UARA with fans admitted to the grandstands for $5.
