Alex Bowman ready for K&N Series race at Iowa
By Chris KnightCORNELIUS, N.C. (May 18, 2011) – 18-year-old NASCAR K&N Pro Series rookie Alex Bowman will make his first Iowa Speedway Stock Car start this Saturday. Bowman and his No. 16 X-Team Racing Toyota Camry will take to the track Saturday morning for practice. The 175-lap race will begin at 7 pm CDT.
Third-Place in Points … Bowman currently sits third in the K&N East standings. He is the only driver in the top-five in points who had no previous K&N Pro Series experience prior to the 2011 season.
Two Top-Five Finishes … The Tucson, Ariz. native has scored finishes of third at Greenville-Pickens Speedway (SC) and fifth at Richmond International Raceway (VA).
Previously at Iowa … Bowman finished ninth in last season’s USAC National Midget race from Iowa Speedway.
Quote from Alex Bowman … “I’m looking forward to this race. It’s the first track that I’m going to that I’ve been to before. We’ve proven that this team can run up front and now it’s time to win. A win, or at the very least, a top-three is what we’re shooting for.
“At Richmond we had a really good car, but I was still in learning-mode. We got a top-five out of it, but the car was probably worthy of a win. I think we can get that win at Iowa.”
