COOPERSVILLE, Michigan (June 30, 2011) – - Without a doubt, the 2011 racing season has been full of bad luck for two-time CRA champion Johnny VanDoorn. Despite having extremely fast cars all season long, VanDoorn has been bitten by lady luck that kept the Coopersville, Michigan native from victory lane thus far this year.

However, there appears to be some light at the end of the tunnel. Recently, VanDoorn participated in the Stan Perry Memorial 110 at Angola Motor Speedway. In his Port City House Outlaw Car, he showed extreme patience and hovered inside the top-five for much of the event before a flat left front half-way through the race forced the Michigander to pit and line up at the tail end of the field.

With laps winding down, VanDoorn hammered down and muscled his way to finish third.

On June 22, VanDoorn returned to Berlin (Mich.) Raceway to participate in the Rowdy 251, a race signified around NASCAR Sprint Cup Series star Kyle Busch. VanDoorn kept much of the spotlight on him during the evening by leading 150 of the 251 laps; unfortunately, a miss in the engine around lap 180 sank VanDoorn in the running order before being involved in a wreck with another competitor on a lap 246 restart. He finished 10th.

This weekend, VanDoorn will return to the cockpit of the Kaos Motorsports No. 61 Paragon Corvette Reproductions / Baker Engineering / JEGS.com Chevrolet for a return trip to Angola Motor Speedway in the Champion Racing Association (CRA) Series.

“We’re getting there,” said VanDoorn. “It’s been a positive couple of weeks, even if we haven’t had the finishes we probably should have. Berlin was a lot of fun, we were fast. Sometimes, you just cannot control your own destiny.”

He added, “I’m looking forward to getting back in the gas in the CRA Series this weekend. Everyone at Kaos Motorsports is eager to seal the deal and celebrate in victory lane. The championship isn’t out of the mix, but points are definitely important right now. Hopefully we’ll have something good to talk about early next week.”

JVD and Co. continue to be appreciative to have the support of Baker Engineering, Earth Service and Supply, Jegs.com, Magic Transportation, Paragon Corvette Reproductions, Port City Racecars and R and R Wire Loom as sponsors on their Chevrolet bowtie.

The EMF Richard Poe Memorial 125 is set for this Sunday, July 3, 2011. Racing kicks off at 7:00 p.m. with the CRA Super Series feature set to be the final contest of the night behind three other racing divisions.

In 67 races, VanDoorn has posted six poles, eight wins, 25 top-fives and 47 top-10 finishes including back-to-back CRA championships in 2009 and 2010.
