Concord, N.C. (July 11, 2011) – Race car driver Ken Schrader will make his first appearance at Gillette Thunder Speedway in Gillette, Wyo., on Tuesday, July 19 during its annual World of Outlaws event. As part of his tour of the region, Schrader will visit with Peabody Energy employees at the North Antelope Rochelle Mine (NARM) in Wright, Wyo.

A veteran of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Schrader spends the summer months racing on short tracks throughout the United States, often visiting more than 30 states within three months. Known for his adaptability and dirt track savvy, Schrader has been on a winning streak the last few weeks with eight victories in four states.

“Dyno Nobel, one of our team sponsors, has a presence in Wyoming and I thought it would be a great opportunity to not only visit with Dyno Nobel employees and guest, but also add a new race track to my ‘portfolio’ while my son, Sheldon and I make our way across the country this month,” Schrader said. “The track itself is a testament to the power of motorsports and how it, together with the community, unites for a common cause – Gillette Thunder Speedway and its loyal supporters have helped to raise more than $90,000 for local charities. We are looking forward to making new friends in Gillette while experiencing such a unique American town.”

Schrader will compete in the World of Outlaws race. Schrader and Dyno Nobel will host 60 or so guests for the race.

“We are thrilled to have Kenny Schrader and his son Sheldon visit our speedway on July 19. Kenny is such a super competitor and he will love our facility,” said Gary Rose, promotions director for Gillette Thunder Speedway. “Our community is looking forward to watching Kenny race, getting his autograph and visiting with him. It is seldom that we have someone of Kenny’s caliber in our area.”

In addition to his sparkling on-track performances this July, Schrader is scheduled to visit NARM to observe one of North America’s largest mines. While there he will also experience firsthand Dyno Nobel explosives in action. Schrader and Dyno Nobel are looking to continue their hot streak for the remainder of the summer!

Schrader will be driving at tracks throughout the Midwest during the summer of 2011. For more information about his schedule, follow Ken Schrader Racing on facebook or visit espn.com for the Thor Tour blog, (NASCAR page) written by Schrader and his son, Sheldon.
