Tough Night For Andrew Smith At Ohio Bullring
Press Release
Smith qualified 23rd but quickly moved his way toward the front on the tight 1/3 mile oval. “We just didn’t have the car right for qualifying but it was fun working the traffic,” said Smith. “The problem with that is you burn up your tires because you have to be so aggressive. I don’t mind the aggressive part, but it’s just not the best scenario toward the end of the race.”
“Just like the deal at Bowman Gray, we got caught up in someone else mess tonight,” said the frustrated driver. “I had moved up to 11th or 12th place when some cars crashed in front of me. I almost got stopped and actually just barely touched those guys. Then out of nowhere I got drilled from the back” he explained. “You have to look further than your nose in these things, and the kid that drove into the back of me has raced enough to know better.
“I’m just frustrated because I have another torn up racecar, another bad finish, and dropped in the Championship and Rookie points again. (This is)Not what we were looking for this weekend,” Smith said.
The Jegs 150 can be seen on the SPEED channel on Thursday, August 4th at 6 p.m.
The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East returns to the track Monday, September 5th for the Greenville 140 at the famed Greenville Motor Speedway in Greenville, SC.
