CONCORD, NC (September 19, 2011) – For a first time out, the new driver-team pairing of Daniel Hemric and Carswell Motorsports was a success Saturday night at Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, Georgia. A fourth-place finish in the 20-year-old’s debut in Jake and Deanna Carswell’s highly-successful number-98 Super Late Model was a solid result in Saturday’s Easy Racers George Elliott Memorial 100 CRA Super Series event.

Hemric never left the top five throughout the 100-green-flag-lap feature after starting from the outside pole. He ran with the leaders and had a shot to contend for the victory in several late-race restarts, despite a tire losing air pressure causing some handling difficulties, before crossing beneath the checkered flag in the fourth spot.

“The car was really good and I thought we’d really have something for them at the end, but we got to a really long run,” said Hemric. “When we finally got a caution and went back green, all the sudden it got really tight. I thought the stagger closed up. When we came in at the checkered flag, the right-rear (tire) was going down. It’s just one of those deals. You’re going to have that and I’m not disappointed at all.

“The team’s happy. I’m happy. The fenders are all pointing in the right direction and we can talk going from here. I’m just really excited for the opportunity and I can’t thank them enough for the opportunity.”

It would be natural for any new driver and team combination to need some time to get accustomed to working with one another, but that wasn’t the case with Hemric and the Carswell team.

“From the first lap on track, everything was very comfortable,” Hemric said after the race. “I was comfortable with the team and the guys worked so hard. It was really an honor working with them and I hope we get the chance to do it again sometime.

“The best part was that I was back in a car through the efforts of Hoyt Demis and the opportunity presented to us by Jake and Deanna Carswell. People talk all the time about having the ‘opportunity of a lifetime.’ Tonight, this was it. I’ve never had the opportunity to just go out and drive for someone else, especially off all the success they’ve had in the past. I had a lot of confidence coming into it and it’s awesome to come out with a good finish.”

Upcoming events for Daniel Hemric will be announced soon.
