NASCAR’s K&N Pro Series East tour has quickly become the proving ground for young, stock-car talent.

Second- and third-generation racers such as Chase Elliott (Bill Elliott’s son), Ryan Blaney (Dave Blaney) and Corey LaJoie (Randy LaJoie), plus brand-name newcomers like Travis Pastrana (X-Game champ), have made K&N much more high-profile.

Thrown into this competitive mix was local racer Ben Kennedy, who competed in all 12 series races, plus three K&N West events, and finished 13th in points.

The K&N East finished its season last week at Dover (Del.) International Speedway. Darrell Wallace Jr., working his way through NASCAR’s diversity program, won the race, while Georgia’s Max Gresham captured the championship.

For Kennedy, great-grandson of NASCAR founder William H.G. France, it was a great way to get seat time at some of the sanctioning body’s best known race tracks.
