QUOTES:
PASSt Times:
-You dominated the PASS South series event at Gresham in July, at times with a quarter of a mile lead over second place before settling for fifth; what made your car that good that race and do you feel you will be as strong at the World Crown?
“Well I can’t tell you everything we did to make the car that fast or I would have to kill you of course! But, yes we did have a car that was fast from the moment we rolled out of the truck. We just missed fast time behind Bubba (Pollard), but our car raced real well out front all night long. We just got a caution with two laps to go and just towards the end the motor started skipping, which turned out to be the alternator, and I just over drove it trying to hold on to the lead. I can tell you, we are going back with the exact same thing this time as we had then so I do think we should have a good shot at being in the win for the win this weekend.”
New Faces and New Places:
-As stated above this will be your second time racing at Gresham Motorsports Park this season, but while the facility may be starting to become familiar you will be racing with a lot of new faces you don’t normally race against; is there any different approach when racing against unfamiliar foes?
“Racing against unfamiliar drivers is nothing knew because the PASS South series is so competitive it attracts drivers all over the US and Canada wanting to race against some tough competition. I mean at Hickory a few weeks ago forty-two cars showed up and I had never heard or raced against half of them. This weekend at the World Crown will be no different except the fact that it’s not a PASS South points race and we just like most that show up are strictly there to win the race especially the way they have the race set up in three different segments.”
Strategy of Success:
-The format of this race is broken down in three segments: segment 1 is 100 green flag laps and $4,000 to win plus a fan voted invert, segment 2 is 75 green flags laps paying $6,000 to the winner and eliminating cars one lap down for the remainder of the event, segment 3 is 25 green flag laps paying $10,000 to the winner and you are then crowned the 2012 World Crown event winner; what’s your strategy going to be for this race?
“The way they have it set up is going to be different I can say that. I don’t know if will be that much different than a normal race really; I mean you might see a little harder racing at the end of each segment. The track there produces a lot of green flag racing so it tends to get the field pretty strung out. I wouldn’t be surprised if each segment is won by the guy out front pretty easily as long as there are no cautions at the end of a segment. I guess that kind of gives away our strategy of getting to the front and staying out that way as along as we can.”
