NASCAR K&N Pro Series West No. 9 Team And No. 50 Team Penalized For Rules Violations At Phoenix
Press ReleaseThe No. 9 team was found to be in violation of Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing); 12-4-I (any determination by NASCAR officials that the race equipment used in the event does not conform to NASCAR rules); and 20C-12.3-T (right front shock absorber would not extend to the specified distance within the specified period of time) of the 2011 NASCAR rule book. The violation was discovered during post race inspection on Nov. 12.
Andy Santerre, crew chief of car No. 9, has been fined $2,500 and suspended from NASCAR K&N Pro Series West events until the fine is paid.
Derek Thorn, driver of car No. 9, has been penalized with the loss of 50 championship driver points. Bob Bruncati, car owner of the No. 9, has been penalized with the loss of 50 championship owner points.
The No. 50 team was found to be in violation of Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing); 12-4-I (any determination by NASCAR officials that the race equipment used in the event does not conform to NASCAR rules); and 20C-2.3 (added weight was not secured in an approved weight container. Added weight was not in block form (pellets).) of the 2011 NASCAR rule book. The violation was discovered during the race on Nov. 12.
Robert McFarland, crew chief of car No. 50, has been fined $500 and suspended from NASCAR until the fine is paid.
