INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 4, 2011) – The Michael Andretti Foundation, in conjunction with Dr Pepper Snapple Group, announced today that 7-Eleven, Inc. President and CEO Joe DePinto will serve as the honorary chairman of the Racing Round Up Gala, scheduled for June 9 in at Gilley’s Dallas in Dallas, Texas.

Under DePinto’s leadership, 7-Eleven continues to stand as the premier company in convenience retailing. Globally, there are approximately 40,900 stores worldwide of which more than 8,400 stores are in North America. 7-Eleven is a longtime sponsor of Andretti’s IndyCar team, Andretti Autosport and most-notably served as primary sponsor for the team’s 2004 IZOD IndyCar Series championship-winning team.

Before his appointment as chief executive of 7-Eleven in 2005, DePinto was president of GameStop Corporation. He also has held executive positions at PepsiCo, Inc. and Thornton Oil Corporation.

DePinto is a board-director of 7-Eleven, Inc., OfficeMax (NYSE: OMX), Brinker International, Inc. (NYSE: EAT), The Dallas Chamber of Commerce, SMU’s Cox School of Business and The National Italian American Foundation. He is a member of the Advisory Councils for Outlook Leadership, The Pro Players Foundation, the Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth and is a Network of Executive Women Champion. He also is an active member of the Business Executives for National Security.

A native of Chicago, Ill., DePinto earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering management from the United States Military Academy at West Point and a Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He and his wife, Ingrid, and their four sons reside in Southlake, Texas.

The Racing Round Up Gala will benefit the Children’s Museum in the new Perot Museum of Nature & Science with a portion of proceeds going to Speedway Children’s Charities at Texas Motor Speedway. Event-goers will have the opportunity to meet the IZOD IndyCar drivers of Andretti Autosport, including Marco Andretti, Mike Conway, Ryan Hunter-Reay and Danica Patrick.
