Direct Supply Returns to Sponsor SFR for Fourth Season
Press ReleaseDirect Supply Assumes Primary Sponsorship of the No. 67 Machine at the Milwaukee Mile in 2011

Bob Hillis, CEO and founder of Direct Supply, said “The Direct Supply Partners have been thrilled with our long association with Sarah and her team. As the first woman car owner she has shown tremendous spirit and accomplishment. Now that she has added our good friend Ed Carpenter as driver of the Dollar General car, we were excited to get the opportunity to bring the team to Milwaukee as part of our family.”
Direct Supply will sponsor 30-year old IndyCar veteran driver, Ed Carpenter, who signed to drive for the Indianapolis-based team last November after Fisher announced plans of retirement. Carpenter brings an extensive amount of oval experience to the table and has proven himself with solid results in the past.
“I am very excited about going back to Milwaukee, not only with Sarah Fisher Racing and Direct Supply, but just that the IZOD IndyCar Series is going back in general is awesome,” Carpenter remarked enthusiastically. “To be able to go up there sponsored by a local company and to work with Bob Hillis, who has been a family friend for a long time, is tremendous. I am just really excited to go up there and have a strong showing in front of the Milwaukee crowd!”
Direct Supply joined SFR at the 2008 Indianapolis 500, continuing its longstanding involvement in IndyCar racing. SFR embodies corporate values matching those of the Milwaukee-based company, and the return to the Milwaukee Mile for both Direct Supply and the IZOD IndyCar Series after a brief absence is nothing short of special.
SFR owner Sarah Fisher remarked, “I am thrilled to welcome Direct Supply as our primary partner for the Milwaukee Race. Being one of the first supporters of SFR in 2008, when we were in a major growing stage at the Indianapolis 500, Direct Supply has continued with unwavering support of our team and certainly with our Driver, Ed Carpenter.”
“We have been in the wings, watching the Milwaukee Race at the start of SFR, and with its return this season are excited to be a part of the historical event.”
The Milwaukee 225 will take place on June 19, 2011 in West Allis, Wisconsin, at The Legendary Milwaukee Mile. The track carries with it great tradition, as it has hosted auto-racing events every year since 1903, eight years before the first Indianapolis 500, making it the oldest continuously operating auto racing facility in the world. The Milwaukee Mile is considered to be America’s Legendary Oval.
About Ed Carpenter:
The 2011 IZOD IndyCar ® Series season marks Ed Carpenter’s eighth year in the series after making his debut at Chicagoland Speedway in 2003. Growing up with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in his backyard, with Laura and step-father Tony George as parents, Carpenter was no stranger to racing. Carpenter began racing at eight years old and balanced racing with education throughout much of his career. Earning a Bachelors of Science degree in marketing from Butler University in 2003, Carpenter graduated from Butler just weeks before he won the Freedom 100 Indy Pro Series race at the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway. With a college degree under his belt, Carpenter is now able to focus on several other activities when he’s not racing. Away from the track, Carpenter follows professional football and is an Indianapolis Colts season ticket holder and an enthusiastic Butler Bulldogs supporter. The 29-year old is also an avid cyclist, water skier and enjoys working out. Before he became a regular in the IZOD IndyCar Series, Carpenter was a short track racer in the United States Auto Club (USAC) midget, sprint and Silver Crown Series. 2011 marks his first season with Sarah Fisher Racing (SFR) and Dollar General. Carpenter resides in Indianapolis with his wife, Heather, his daughter Makenna, son Ryder, and their two dogs Bentley (Rottweiler) and Roscoe (Chihuahua).
