Sarah Fisher Awards Scholarship to Deserving Roncalli High School Recipient
Press Release
The Dollar General Literacy Foundation joined Fisher’s scholarship program last year, as a way to reward those individuals who have partaken in extracurricular activities throughout their high school career. The applicants are required to submit a list of extracurricular activities in which they participated in throughout high school, including leadership roles. The activities could include those in which they participated outside of school as well as service activities for the school or community. More importantly, applicants are required to submit a one page, single spaced, 12pt font essay on the following topic: “How do you think your extracurricular activity/activities will allow you to grow and/or help you in your future? It’s not the quantity of activities that count, but the true quality.”
Sarah Fisher: “I am really excited to again award a scholarship to a student on behalf of Sarah Fisher Racing and the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. It’s especially important to help out a student who has ambition and dreams and can relate that to an extracurricular activity and how that will help him/her in the future, regardless of their his/her path. It’s very important to me as my extracurricular activities, building up to this point, have made my career what it is today. It feels great to be able to share that with the kids of the future.”
Lacey Christian: “On behalf of my family and I, I would like to thank Sarah Fisher Racing and Dollar General for choosing me as the 2011 extracurricular scholarship recipient. It is through volleyball at St. Roch Catholic School and Roncalli High School that the values of dedication, tenacity, and team work have been instilled within me. These characteristics will continue to guide me as I begin studying Physician Assistance at Butler University. Thank you once again to Sarah and Andy, Ed, Dollar General, and the entire Sarah Fisher Racing organization.”
Lacey will be attending Butler University in the fall, enrolling in a five-year Physician’s Assistance program. All of us at SFR wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors and congratulate her on her achievements thus far.
