INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 29, 2011) - Service Central Chip Ganassi Racing driver Graham Rahal finished third in the 100th anniversary of the Indianapolis 500.

The No. 38 Service Central Honda started from the 29th position and would charge through the field gaining 10 positions by lap 22. The Service Central team turned consistent laps and relied on pit strategy to move up to the top-10 by the half-way point of the 200-lap race. After dodging an on-track incident, Rahal, who had a best finish of 12th on the 2.5-oval in 2010, took over the lead on a restart on lap 165. The No. 38 car continued to run at the front and ultimately crossed the finish line third. Rahal had the greatest position advancement in the 2011 Indianapolis 500 by gaining of 26 spots from his starting place.

With the finish, Rahal advances three positions to sixth in the IZOD IndyCar Series point standings.

Up next for Service Central Chip Ganassi Racing is the Firestone Twin 275s at Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday, June 11, 2011 (8:00 p.m. ET, VERSUS).

SSCGR Quoteboard:

Graham Rahal: “A top-three run feels good, that’s for sure. This is what the Indianapolis 500 is all about. We needed to ride the momentum from our second-place finish in Brazil, and we did. We’ll just keep going on from here. I’m so proud of the Service Central team, because starting where we started and to end up in the top-three, we passed 26 cars; that’s fantastic.”
