Dad’s Root Beer NO. 22 IZOD Dreyer & Reinbold Racing Machine Set To Race on Father’s (Dad’s) Day at Milwaukee
Press Release
This weekend’s event will mark the third straight year that the Jasper, Indiana based The Dad’s Root Beer Company, will be featured on a Dreyer & Reinbold Racing IZOD IndyCar on Father’s Day. Sunday’s race will be the first time that DRR driver Justin Wilson will get behind the wheel of the recognizable and popular blue, red and yellow livery. In addition to debuting the Dad’s Root Beer car for this weekend’s race, Dreyer Reinbold Racing plans on decorating the No. 22 pit wall with “Happy Dad’s Day” banners in celebration of Father’s Day.
Dad’s Root Beer is one of the oldest and most popular soft drinks in America. Founded in Chicago in 1937, Dad’s celebrated its 70th Anniversary in 2007. In the same year, Dad’s was purchased along with the Sun Crest, Dr. Wells, and Bubble Up brands by Hedinger Brands, LLC and licensed to The Dad’s Root Beer Company, LLC. The company headquarters is now located in Jasper, Indiana. With a new dedication to expanding the distribution network across the country, the brand looks forward to continued growth and customer support.
For the last two years, the Dad’s car has finished in the Top 10 on Father’s Day. In 2009, Mike Conway drove the Dad’s No. 24 to an 8th place finish at the Iowa Corn 250. Last season, Graham Rahal, who filled in for the injured Mike Conway, piloted the specially designed Dad’s Hot Wheels No. 24 machine to a 9th place result on Father’s Day, also at Iowa.
The Indianapolis based crew will hit the pavement June 19th for the 7th round of the IZOD IndyCar Series in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Milwaukee 225 at The Milwaukee Mile will be broadcast live Sunday, June 19th at 3:30 pm Eastern Time on ABC. Please stay tuned for more announcements to come in the following days.
About Dreyer & Reinbold Racing:
Dreyer & Reinbold Racing is entering its 12th season of full-time competition in 2011, making it one of the longest-tenured teams in IZOD IndyCar Series competition. Current Co-Owners, Dennis Reinbold and Robbie Buhl, first teamed in full-time competition at the Walt Disney World Speedway in January of 2000. With Buhl behind the wheel, the two owners tasted victory in their debut race. The 2009 IZOD IndyCar Series season-opener, on the streets of St. Petersburg, marked Dreyer & Reinbold Racing’s 200th series start. DRR now has over 270 starts to tuck under its belt and has qualified a total of 27 cars for the Indianapolis 500. In its history, the team has boasted a championship list of alumni drivers. Besides Buhl, the team has run Indianapolis 500 winners, Al Unser, Jr., Buddy Lazier, and Buddy Rice, along with IZOD IndyCar Series race winner, Ryan Briscoe. The team has one of the longest lines of heritage in American open-wheel racing and the Indianapolis 500 as Dennis Reinbold’s grandfather, “Pop” Dreyer, built leading roadsters that raced at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the 30s, 40s, and 50s.
