NEWTON, Iowa (June 25, 2011) – Service Central Chip Ganassi Racing (SCCGR) driver Graham Rahal finished 15th in the Iowa Corn Indy 250 at Iowa Speedway.

The No. 38 Service Central car lined-up 20th on the .875-mile oval for the 250-lap race under the lights. Rahal, who made his fourth start on the Iowa track, would charge to the top-15 and secure 12th-place by lap 45.

On lap 90, the Service Central driver continued to dig through the field and nabbed a spot in the top-10 while fighting an edgy car. The Service Central team made their final scheduled pit stop of the night on lap 182 under green and were ill-fated when the yellow flag waved less than five laps later– allowing the leaders to pit under the caution and causing Rahal to lose a lap. The No. 38 continued to battle for track position and would ultimately finish in 15th-place.

With the finish, Rahal moves from fifth to seventh in the IZOD IndyCar Series points standings.

Up next for Service Central Chip Ganassi Racing is the Honda Indy Toronto on the streets of Toronto on Sunday, July 10 (2:00 p.m. ET, VERSUS).

SCCGR Quoteboard:

Graham Rahal: “Overall, it was a pretty frustrating night. The Service Central team did a great job in the pits. I thought that we had a really good race car yesterday and I thought we did a good job not overreacting, but the No. 38 Service Central car was extremely loose. I was hanging on a bit too much. We got unlucky with that yellow after our third pit stop, which put us a lap down. We’ll have to regroup and come back. We lost a few positions in the points, but the Service Central team will continue to work hard.”
