SFR Driver Ed Carpenter Looks for First IZOD IndyCar Series Win this Weekend in the Bluegrass State

INDIANAPOLIS, IN. (September 29, 2011)- Ed Carpenter, of Sarah Fisher Racing (SFR), will be making his 114th career IZOD IndyCar ® Series start this weekend at Kentucky Speedway. The track is no stranger to Carpenter, who made his first start at Kentucky Speedway in 2002 in the Firestone Indy Lights Series, and has since allowed Kentucky Speedway to house a number of his firsts. The 30-year old will be making his eighth start on the 1.5-mile asphalt tri-oval, where he captured his first podium finish (2nd place) in 2009, returning in 2010 to capture his first pole position and claim the runner-up spot once again. Carpenter has only finished outside of the top-ten twice in his seven starts on the circuit. It is certain to say that the victory-hungry Carpenter has unfinished business at Kentucky Speedway.

“I’m really looking forward to this weekend,” said a very enthused Carpenter. “Kentucky is one of my favorite tracks, and I’ve done pretty well there in the past. We had a good test there at the end of last week, and I have a good feeling about this one. Hopefully all of the oval prep we’ve done this year will show in Kentucky this weekend.”

Among the fans watching Carpenter attempt to add a victory to his list of accomplishments at Kentucky Speedway, will be team owner Sarah (Fisher) and Andy O’Gara’s newest addition, Zoey Marie O’Gara.

Along with the IZOD IndyCar Series, Kentucky Speedway, located in Sparta, Kentucky, will be hosting the Firestone Indy Lights Series as well as the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

Carpenter’s 2011 IZOD IndyCar Series season continues Sunday, October 2nd at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, KY. The race will be telecast live in High Definition (HD) at 2 p.m. (EST) on the Versus network. Additional coverage will be available on IMS Radio, XM Satellite Radio Channel 94 “IndyCar Racing,” Sirius Channel 212, along with broadcast coverage summaries available at www.indycar.com and www.sarahfisherracing.com.
