Viva Las Vegas: Kimball will turn his first-ever laps on the 1.5-mile D-shaped Las Vegas oval this weekend. The IZOD IndyCar Series rookie will look to score his third top-10 in the No. 83 Levemir and NovoLog FlexPen car.
Turning Laps: In 17 races, the Novo Nordisk team has completed 84% (1792) of the 2111 laps ran this season.
Four Years, One Dream: The IZOD IndyCar Series World Championship at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on October 16, 2011 will mark Kimball’s fourth anniversary since his Type 1 diabetes diagnosis. The driver of the No. 83 Levemir and NovoLog Flex will display the phrase “Four Years, One Dream” along with the dates of his diagnosis (October 16, 2007 – October 16, 2011) on his helmet for the season finale.
Rookie Wrap-Up: Kimball will compete in his final race as an IZOD IndyCar Series rookie this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He holds third place in the 2011 IZOD IndyCar Series Rookie of the Year points standings, 69 markers behind leader James Hinchcliffe.
Points Standings: Kimball is 19th in the overall IZOD IndyCar Series point standings, 340 points behind leader Dario Franchitti.
Kentucky Recap: The green flag flew for the Kentucky Indy 300 and Kimball would find himself falling back one position to 11th, trailing the top 10 by only a few car lengths. The Novo Nordisk team maintained a consistent run throughout the first half of the 200-lap race, only falling a few seconds behind the leaders. With 40 laps to go, Kimball had battled his way back into the top 10 but would get shuffled back during a restart and cross the finish line 13th.
