Tommy Baldwin Racing and Steve Park Team up to Tribute “Old Blue” and Len Boehler
Press ReleaseFans Have Opportunity to Sponsor the No. 36

Boehler started BRE Racing Inc in 1957. From the late 60’s to the early 70’s, Boehler ran a coupe modified that was beat up with dents, rusty and built with junkyard parts but had a fast big-block engine. Competitors called the car “Old Blue,” and the name stuck. “Old Blue” won six NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Championships from 1967-69 and 1994-96 and collected over 400 feature wins in the team’s 54-year history.
“Lenny Boehler is a guy I always looked up to in the modifieds,” explained Park “What he was able to accomplish with his racecars and the amount of time he has been involved in the division clearly makes him one of the icons in modified racing. With his passing, his son has done a good job of carrying the torch for future generations and the Lenny Boehler No. 3 ‘Old Blue’ modified.”
Beginning Monday, April 18th, fans will have the opportunity to be a part of history by sponsoring the No. 36 “Old Blue” Chevrolet with contributions from $20 to $10,000. All proceeds exceeding $100,000, the cost to race the Coke Zero 400, will be donated by Tommy Baldwin Racing to the Victory Junction Gang Camp.
“It’s pretty cool,” explained Park. “It’s the only program of its kind, where through the Sprint Cup Series we give back to modified racing, the fans of NASCAR and the history of our sport. Being able to run a tribute car in NASCAR and honor the heroes of our sport, the Northeast modifieds, where Tommy and I all got our start in racing, is such an honor.”
For each contribution, fans will have the opportunity to add their name to the Len Boehler tribute car, as well as additional items including a 1:64 diecast No. 36 “Old Blue” Chevrolet.

About Tommy Baldwin Racing:
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Crew Chief Tommy Baldwin formed Tommy Baldwin Racing in 2009. Baldwin utilized a slumping economy to open a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team for a fraction of the cost. The team competed in two full seasons with multiple drivers behind the wheel of the No. 36 Chevrolet and improved in the standings each year.
Based in Mooresville, N.C., TBR will compete in the full NASCAR Sprint Cup schedule in 2011 with NASCAR veteran Dave Blaney piloting the No. 36 Tommy Baldwin Racing Chevrolet. Looking to improve on-track performance and increase the number of races they complete, TBR is still seeking partners to support their racing efforts. TBR’s driver development program, Heinke-Baldwin Racing, will also compete in various NASCAR series in 2011.
