Roush Yates Engines Sweep Dover Weekend

Mooresville, NC (May 15, 2011) Matt Kenseth and crew chief Jimmy Fennig made a remarkable pit stop call with just over 30 laps to go at Dover International Speedway to win the FedEx 400. Kenseth’s Ford teammate Carl Edwards led 117 laps during Sunday’s race and looked to be a favorite to win, but it was the No. 17 Wiley X Ford Fusion that ultimately found Victory Lane.

Kenseth came to pit road running fourth during the final caution on lap 363 and chose to take just two new tires, allowing him to be the first car back on the track. Starting second to Mark Martin, who did not pit, Kenseth took the lead at the restart and never looked back to get his second win of the 2011 Sprint Cup season.

“The key to this race was the two tire stop and having a fast car all day long,” said an excited Kenseth in Victory Lane. “Another big key was Doug Yates and those boys at the engine shop. If he was here right now I’d probably give him a kiss! We had so much horsepower today and the whole team did such a great job.”

Fellow Ford driver Marcos Ambrose finished third, his second top five finish of the season. Ambrose is still looking for his first Sprint Cup series win and feels that his day is just around the corner.

“I had a really fast car today,” said Ambrose, driver of the No. 9 Dewalt Ford Fusion. “It’s a big day for Dewalt, my best performance for them and a career best for this program. I am really excited about the rest of the season.”

Roush Yates Engines swept the weekend for the second time this year as Carl Edwards took the checkered flag in yesterday’s Nationwide race at Dover International Speedway. Edwards finished seventh in today’s race and maintains the points lead in the Sprint Cup Series.
