Official NASCAR Members Club Wraps Up Another Successful Convention
Press Release
The four-day event is the Official NASCAR Members Club’s signature annual gathering, bringing together race fans from as far away as California, Arkansas and Texas, and giving these passionate fans the opportunity to enjoy life behind the scenes at one of NASCAR’s biggest fan events.
This year’s National Convention opened on May 18, when ONMC Members volunteered their morning at Victory Junction to help affix bed-bug-proof sheets to campers’ bedding, ensuring the safety of the hundreds of children who visit Victory Junction each year.
“Victory Junction cannot express enough gratitude for the generous volunteer and fundraising support we continue to receive from ONMC Members,” said Sammie Barclay, development associate for Victory Junction. “This has been an exciting partnership to watch grow, and we are looking forward to working with ONMC Members for many years to come.”
In addition, the ONMC raised nearly $500 via a silent auction that day and, later in the Convention, raised an additional $500 for Victory Junction.
“Where else can you find this amount of care and dedication?” asked ONMC President/CEO David Hickson. “Each year our most dedicated Members come from all over the country to participate in volunteer events and show their support to this great cause. We couldn’t be more proud.”
The ONMC National Convention continued on Thursday with tours of the NASCAR R&D Center and Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates in Concord, followed by lunch at Garofola’s Italiano near Charlotte Motor Speedway. The Conventioneers gathered at Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s Whisky River club in uptown Charlotte, and then attended the NASCAR Sprint Pit Crew Challenge at Time-Warner Cable Arena.
Friday’s schedule consisted of an early-morning program at the NASCAR Hall of Fame, highlighted by a question-and-answer session with the Hall’s Executive Director, Winston Kelley and followed by tours of the year-old attraction. Nationwide Insurance sponsored the ONMC Tailgate Party at the Speedway later in the day, and during the two-hour cookout, the Members enjoyed outdoor games to decide the annual team competition.
On Saturday, all of the attendees toured the garage area at Charlotte during the pre-race buildup. It is the sixth straight year that the Charlotte-based ONMC has hosted dedicated fans from among the 65,000 annual Members around the country.
