No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger News and Notes

  • · This Week’s Charger… The No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger team will use chassis PRS-747 during Sunday’s STP 400 at Kansas Speedway. Brad Keselowski drove this chassis to an 18th-place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway in March.
  • · No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge in 2011… After 12 points-paying events, Keselowski and the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger team sit 25th in the Cup Series driver and owner point standings. The team is coming off a 19th-place finish in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway last Sunday.
  • · Fast Brad… Keselowski’s pole-winning lap speed of 192.089 miles per hour during qualifying for last weekend’s Coca-Cola 600 was the fastest lap run this season in the Cup Series. The lap also resulted in Keselowski’s second career Cup Series pole position.
  • · Keselowski NASCAR History at Kansas… In addition to his two career Cup Series starts at Kansas Speedway, Keselowski has made five career starts in the Nationwide Series at the 1.5-mile oval. In those starts he has recorded two top-five and three top-10 finishes, while completing 97.1% of the laps contested. Keselowski also has two career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts at Kansas with his top finish of 21st coming in 2005.
  • · Meet Brad Keselowski will make an appearance at Danny’s Bar and Grill, located at 10940 Parallel Parkway in Kansas City, Kan., on Thursday, June 2 at 7:00 pm CT.
    • · Save Your Summer! Tastepoints.com… The featured tag line on the bumper of the “Blue Deuce” this weekend at Charlotte will be “Save Your Summer! Tastepoints.com.” The Tastepoints.com program encourages people to collect codes off specially-packaged Miller Lite that can be redeemed for a variety of prizes.
    • · The Rest is History… Penske Racing has competed in every NASCAR Cup Series event held at Kansas Speedway since the racetrack opened in 2001. In that first event, Ryan Newman and Rusty Wallace finished second and fourth, respectively, to capture two of the organization’s five top-five finishes at the track. In 24 combined starts, Penske Racing drivers have also captured one win (2003 – Ryan Newman), seven top-10 finishes and have led 337 laps at Kansas.

Brad Keselowski on racing in the Midwest

“I place a lot of emphasis on running well in the Midwest. It’s an important area to me and my family. My dad and uncle won a lot of races around there. My brother and I won a lot of late model races in the Midwest as well. It means a lot to me to run up front and contend for wins when I go back now with Penske Racing. This might be the only opportunity that some of my family and childhood friends have to watch me race this season. With the speed we have found in our Miller Lite Dodges over the last couple of weeks, it would be great to get a Midwestern win this weekend at Kansas.”

Brad Keselowski on how Kansas Speedway compares to other mile-and-a-half ovals

“Kansas is quite a bit different than some of the more traditional mile-and-a-half tracks, like Charlotte and Texas. It’s really similar to Auto Club Speedway in California. There are obvious differences in size as California is a two-mile track. The straightaway speed is not quite the same, but the corners are really similar. You can also run all over the track at Kansas, from the high lane to the low lane. It’s a great racetrack. I’m excited about going there twice a year because it is another one of those areas of the country where they support racing.”

Crew chief Paul Wolfe on preparing for this weekend’s race at Kansas Speedway

“This Miller Lite Dodge team has taken some huge steps over the last month and I expect that to continue this weekend at Kansas. We’re putting ourselves in position to win races and that’s all we can do. Unfortunately we didn’t get the finish we deserved at Charlotte last weekend, but neither did a lot of other guys since it came down to fuel mileage. We’re fortunate that we get to go to Kentucky (Speedway) on Wednesday to take part in the Goodyear tire test for the new Cup Series race that they have there. If we find some things that work at Kentucky, we should be able to implement them at Kansas. I’m looking forward to this weekend. All the guys on the team have a lot of confidence right now and that goes a long way.”
