(Clover, SC) July 19, 2011- Ryan Newman claimed his 4^th consecutive NASCAR Whelen Modified Series Race at New Hampshire on Performance Friction Brakes this past Saturday. Newman started on the pole and led 61 laps of the 100 lap modified race to capture his 3^rd modified race win at New Hampshire. Newman’s car, owned and prepared by Kevin “Bono” Manion, was equipped with Performance Friction ZR34 Zero Drag calipers when it crossed the finish line. That was no surprise though; the ZR34 was designed to win every race. In fact, PFC’s advanced caliper design reduces drag to zero allowing the brake system to deliver maximum stopping power, faster transition time, and quicker pedal response. Newman’s victory was a special win for Bono and the crew assembled from Jamie McMurray’s No.01 Sprint Cup team. The team members spent their spare time working on the modified car and were excited to see their hard work pay off. The victory didn’t come easy though, as Newman drifted back as far as third during the 88-lap green-flag run. However, Ryan was able to conserve his equipment and take the lead on lap 84 by passing Ron Silk. When the checkered flag fell Ryan finished 1.9 seconds ahead of second place, Todd Szegedy who made a last lap pass on Silk.

In victory lane, Newman acknowledged the team gave him a no excuses race car. “It’s an awesome race car. The Modified itself, they build the best of the best,” Newman said. Not only did Ryan win the Whelen Modified Tour race at New Hampshire but he went on to win Sunday’s Sprint Cup race as well. Newman runs a limited schedule in the Whelen Modified Tour Series and usually competes at Bristol and New Hampshire each year. The next stop on the Whelen Modified schedule is Riverhead Raceway on July 30.
