After almost a two-day delay due to rain from the remnants of tropical storm Lee, the NSCS AdvoCare 500 finally got underway Tuesday morning at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

It was Jeff Gordon, who had already clinched a wild-card berth in the “chase for the championship,” holding off his Hendrick Motorsports teammate, Jimmie Johnson (who now leads Kyle Busch by 21 points in the point standing) by 0.598 seconds at the drop of the checkered flag.

Gordon, who led the most laps with 146 laps of the 325 laps that were run, received his 3rd series win of the season, his 85th series career win and his 5th series win at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Tony Stewart, who started 20th, came in third, while Kurt Busch finished fourth, Carl Edwards fifth, Brad Keselowski sixth, Kevin Harvick seventh, Denny Hamlin eighth, Matt Kenseth ninth and AJ Allmendinger rounds out the top-ten finishing positions.
