Puccia on Richmond: “We’re taking the car that we raced earlier this year in New Hampshire and we’ll work off of the notes from the team’s good run in the spring. Richmond has two distinct grooves that allow for good, side-by-side racing. Track position is crucial so we know that we can’t let it get away from us if we are able to race up front. We’ll have a strategy going into the race but it will be important to be able to adjust according to our circumstances and the way the race unfolds.”
Richmond Notes
-
• Biffle is currently 15th in the Sprint Cup point standings following his 12th-place finish in Atlanta. He is 70 points out of the 10th position with one race remaining until the Chase.
-
• Biffle’s average finish at Richmond is 16.8 from an average starting position of 17.4.
-
• The No. 16 3M Ford will have a special 9/11 “Honoring Our Heroes” paint scheme this weekend in Richmond.
Last Time At Richmond:
After two disappointing finishes in Richmond last season, the 3M team showed they could run with the best there tonight. Driver Greg Biffle started 23rd and eventually drove his way into the top five with the help of his team. Unfortunately, the team’s pit strategy didn’t play out as they hoped and Biffle lost ground to drivers with fresher tires in the closing laps. He was able to hang on for a 15th-place finish and moved up two positions in the standings.
