Monday
Richmond, In A Nutshell
Press Release
“It’s just one of those things in short track racing. Guys get into one another and it happens. This time it was someone getting into us and the result was frustrating. It was an accident and I’m not going to dwell on it. I’m proud of my guys for getting me back out there so fast and helping our team to salvage as many points as we could.”
After spending nearly forty laps in the garage area repairing the No. 71 machine, the team returned to the racetrack where it ultimately completed 357 of the 400 scheduled laps.
“If you look at the way our night started and then look at what we were able to get out of it, it might look like we robbed somebody. To get taken out and stuffed in the wall on lap two, and still be able to make repairs, complete 357 laps and finish 32nd is something that takes a total team effort. I’m proud of our guys for putting us in the best position possible and proud of Andy for keeping his composure and finishing the race. This has now been two consecutive weeks where we’ve been affected by something out of our control. We’ll be looking to regain our momentum in Chicago.”
Coverage of the Geico 400 from Chicagoland Speedway will begin Sunday at 2:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
