NASCAR releases familiar-looking 2012 schedule

If you were expecting radical changes to the 2012 Sprint Cup schedule, prepare to be disappointed. The adage “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” apparently applies to NASCAR as well.

With a few minor tweaks, the new schedule released Wednesday by the sanctioning body looks a lot like the old schedule, with no races added or deleted and no changes to the venues in the 10-race Chase.

“We believe the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule will once again provide fans with what they’ve come to expect every season — the world’s most exciting and competitive form of motorsports,” NASCAR chairman and CEO Brian France said. “Next year’s schedule has a few adjustments that we think will be good for the fans and good for the overall flow of the season.
