No. 33 Cheerios/Hamburger Helper Chevrolet Impala

Race Notes and Quotes

This Week’s Cheerios/Hamburger Helper Chevrolet at Texas Speedway … Clint Bowyer will pilot chassis No. 371 from the Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stable this weekend. This Chevrolet Impala, built new in September, has been utilized twice during this season’s Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. The first time it saw action was at Chicagoland Speedway in September when Bowyer drove it to a top-10 finish of seventh after starting 21st and the second time was last month as Bowyer brought home another seventh-place finish after starting 24th at Kansas Speedway.

Career Texas Stats … The AAA Texas 500 marks Bowyer’s 215th NSCS start.

        • In 11 NSCS starts at Texas, Bowyer owns three top-five and six top-10 finishes.
        • He has completed 99.3 percent (3,660 of 3,684) of the total laps contested at TMS during his career.
        • The Emporia, Kan., native has led 84 laps at the 1.5-mile oval.
        • Bowyer owns a 12.5 average starting position and a 13.4 average finishing position.
        • His best effort at the Texas facility was a runner-up finish last April.

Red and Yellow … After a two-race hiatus, the familiar Cheerios/Hamburger Helper paint scheme will return to the No. 33 Chevrolet this weekend.

Double Duty … Bowyer will drive the No. 33 Rheem Heating, Cooling & Water Heating Chevrolet Impala for Kevin Harvick Inc. in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race on Saturday, November 5. In 10 NNS starts at Texas (Motor Speedway), Bowyer has two top-five and five top-10 finishes.

Top-Five in The Lone Star State … Bowyer and the No. 33 Cheerios/Hamburger Helper Chevrolet team, riding momentum from two straight top-10 finishes at the time, led 44 laps en route to a second-place result in the Samsung Mobile 500 under the lights at Texas Motor Speedway in April.

Points Racing … Bowyer remains 13th in the NSCS driver championship point standings with three races remaining in the 2011 season.

CLINT BOWYER QUOTES:

You finished second at Texas Motor Speedway in April. What did you think of that race?

“This track is like Talladega Superspeedway in that we could have won at both of those tracks. I was lapping Brian Vickers and he got a little squirrely. We almost got turned around, but saved it. By that time, Matt (Kenseth) got around me and the rest is history. Texas Motor Speedway is a good race track for us. I enjoy going there.”

When looking back at Texas Motor Speedway, that was kind of a ‘son of a gun’ moment, right?

“Yeah, it’s disappointing we couldn’t get to victory lane that day. It was so close. We had a car that was capable of winning, but we just came up short. Nonetheless, it was a good run for us and a good race track for us and one I think we can win at. I’m looking forward to getting there.”

How much do you have to stay on your toes at Texas Motor Speedway?

“The sheer speed at Texas is probably the most demanding part about that race track. When you want to talk about a sensation of speed, you think about qualifying. Track position is everything at a big track like Texas Motor Speedway. You have to be able to play your cards right and your strategy right. If a caution comes out, you have to plan accordingly and play the audible. You have to decide two tires, four tires or fuel only. Whatever you have to do to keep that track position, you’ve to keep yourself in position for the end of the race.”
