Labonte’s Toyota Camry Branded To Raise Awareness for Wounded Warrior Project and A Good Night Sleep Foundation at Texas Motor Speedway
Press ReleaseFORT WORTH, Texas (November 2, 2011) – - Texas native Bobby Labonte returns to The Lone Star State in hopes of raising awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) and A Good Night Sleep (AGNS) Foundation during the AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday.
“We’re looking forward to having both the Wounded Warrior Project and A Good Night Sleep’s on our Toyota Camry at Texas,” said Labonte, who has 21 starts, three top-five and five top-10 finishes at the 1.5-mile quad-oval. “I’m very familiar with WWP and last year, we auctioned off one of my Daytona 500 helmets for them. It’s a good looking race car.
“With Brian Burns settling into his crew chief role, we have some great ideas and notes from the same tire we raced at Chicagoland Speedway – - where we had a better run,” continued Labonte. “Overall, we have some good ideas leading into this race with the Wounded Warrior Project Toyota.”
Thanks to The Clorox Company donating their primary space on JTG Daugherty Racing’s No. 47 Toyota Camry, Wounded Warrior Project will be prominently displayed along with their Believe in Heroes (BIH) campaign.
“Wounded Warrior Project is extremely proud to have the support of JTG Daugherty Racing, NASCAR and Safeway in our effort to encourage Americans to put the veteran back in Veterans Day,” said Steve Nardizzi, executive director of WWP. “Their commitment to supporting our nation’s military is vital to increasing awareness and continued support for those who have served. The sacrifices have been many, and we must all continue to fight for those who have fought for us.”
Sunday’s race is the first of two in which Labonte will feature the Wounded Warrior logo on his car as part of WWP’s Believe in Heroes campaign. The two-month BIH campaign honors the sacrifices of those who have answered the call to serve in the ten years that followed the events of Sept 11th through a series of special events and initiatives around the country.
Also, prior to the race, Safeway will be presenting the Wounded Warrior Project with a substantial donation of $500,000 to show their support for the trials and sacrifices of Wounded Warriors and their families. Veteran and wounded warrior Timothy Seckel will represent WWP and our nation’s veterans at the race.
Additionally, A Good Night Sleep will have presence on the C-post. A Good Night Sleep is a non-profit focused on delivering brand new beds to people transitioning out of homelessness and into permanent housing. This week, 100 brand new beds are planned to be delivered to two different Permanent Supportive Housing centers in the Dallas area by the foundation’s corporate partner 1800mattress.com. One of the biggest mattress retailers in the Dallas area, Sleep Experts, has been challenged to match the 100 bed donation.
“AGNS is extremely proud to partner with JTG Daugherty Racing for the AAA Texas 500,” said Josh Helland, executive director for A Good Night Sleep Foundation. “JTG’s Daugherty’s commitment to using their sponsorship platform to promote causes for the greater good is truly inspiring. We can’t thank them enough for bringing heightened awareness to the challenges that people face when breaking the cycle of homelessness and getting a good night sleep.”
