CONCORD, N.C. (Nov. 11, 2011) – Roush Fenway Racing scored its 299th NASCAR win last weekend in Texas when Trevor Bayne scored his first career Nationwide Series win. As the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series head farther west to Phoenix this weekend, RFR looks for its 300th trip to Victory Lane in NASCAR action.

Roush Fenway scored its landmark first victory in the fall of 1989 at Rockingham Speedway with Mark Martin at the wheel. Along the way there have been numerous milestone wins as the team approaches 300, including a thrilling finish for the 200th NASCAR win at Texas Motor Speedway on November 6, 2005 which saw RFR teammates battle for the Sprint Cup victory.

On the final restart with 11 laps to go Mark Martin stayed out on old tires and restarted from the lead. Carl Edwards was the leader before the caution but he pitted for fresh rubber and restarted in sixth. Martin got clear on the restart and tried to get away while Edwards worked his way through traffic. Matt Kenseth was in second, also on old tires. With two to go Edwards got a run on Martin and used his fresh tires to pass him as they charged up the back stretch. Edwards was able to hold on to score the win over RFR teammates Martin and Kenseth.

Roush Fenway’s 299 wins have been accomplished over a performance driven 24 seasons, across all three of NASCAR three major divisions and will 17 different drivers. Currently Roush Fenway has 125 Sprint Cup wins, 124 Nationwide wins and 50 wins in NASCAR’s Truck Series.
