The Story:
Coming into Friday at Nashville Superspeedway, Justin Johnson’s sights were set on escaping the bad luck plaguing him of late and finishing with a solid run. Mission accomplished. Johnson scored his second top 15 of the season in the Bully Hill Vineyards 200 when he brought his No.51 Wounded Warrior Project / Vision Airlines Toyota Tundra home in 15th position.
After starting from the inside of the second row, Johnson held steady in the top-five. Slipping back a few positions around lap 30, he radioed crew chief Doug George that he was “wicked loose.” After dropping back to 9th Johnson found his groove and was clicking off lap-times comparable to the leader.
Green-flag pit stops began on lap 58. George brought the No. 51 in for four tires, fuel and adjustments to help with Johnson’s loose condition. The caution flag fell while Johnson was still in the pit stall causing him to wonder if his good luck had run out. However, the field had cycled through and he would remain on the lead lap, restarting in the 8th spot.
Johnson stayed in the top 10 until a late race pit stop on lap 109. The call was for four tires while others rolled the dice and took two, causing Johnson to restart 13th. George’s four tire call would pay off as Johnson had to dig hard on the outside and hope it would stick to miss the No. 3 truck’s spin off turn 2 a few laps later.
Johnson restarted tenth after the close call and remained there until a few late race restarts shuffled him back. He took the checkered flag in 15th position.

“When we unloaded, there was a bit of a learning curve. Like most of the races this season I had to spend the first couple of laps just learning the track and getting comfortable. Doug and my guys work so hard. They brought me an awesome truck which helped a lot.”
“I was really excited with our qualifying effort. Starting from the 3rd position was huge and we were able to hang with those guys in the top 10 for most of the race. The finish was kind of a bummer because I know our truck was better than that but I am glad we brought it home in one piece with a solid top 15.”
