CERRO GORDO, N.C. (May 19, 2011) – Ricky Benton Racing (RBR) Enterprises is teaming with Community2Community, a South Carolina-based charity, to help victims of the tornados that ravaged the Southeast over the past month.

The No. 92 BTS Tire and Wheel Distributors / fleetHQ.com Chevrolet, piloted by Clay Rogers, will be carrying Community2Community’s unique “C2C” logo for Friday’s running of the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

“With the devastation that these storms caused from Alabama to North Carolina, we felt it was our duty to help in some way,” said RBR owner Ricky Benton. “To see what these young ladies have been able to do with C2C in such a short period of time has been phenomenal and we are proud to be a supporter of their efforts.”

The C2C efforts started when Erica Elliott’s relatives couldn’t be reached during the storms that left a wake of destruction in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Finally, when contact was made, the Elliotts learned about the destruction that the tornado did to the city. The C2C founders and Clemson University students Elliott, Elissa Bailey and Jenny Delaere looked for ways to help the victims.

The girls’ first trip was on Thursday, May 5, as they traveled down to the Tuscaloosa area to deliver the supplies and helped with the clean-up efforts. The team loaded up three trucks filled to the top with supplies.

“I knew that the Alabama trip would be emotional and tough, but I had no idea just how difficult it would be,” Elliott said. “Nothing could have prepared us for what we saw or the stories we heard. This is an experience that none of us will ever forget.

“Our main goal is to get as many donations as possible,” Erica said. “We are going down to Alabama this week to take all of the supplies and to help with all of the clean-up efforts.”
