Kentucky, Start of Summer Stretch Initiates Change for Justin Lofton
Press ReleaseReunited, and it feels so good: During the break in NCWTS competition Lofton announced his departure from Germain Racing in order to rejoin Eddie Sharp Racing (ESR). Lofton raced with ESR during the 2008 and 2009 seasons in the ARCA Racing Series. Lofton earned some of his most memorable moments to date with Sharp as his owner. In 2008, Lofton earned his first career stock car win at Michigan with Sharp and in ’09, the duo dominated the series by earning six race wins, 15 top-5s and 19 top-10s en route to the championship. Also joining Lofton during his return to ESR is Dan Bormann. Bormann served as Lofton’s car chief in 2009 at ESR during his ARCA championship run. In 2010 Bormann made the jump with Lofton to Truck competition, as he served as his truck chief on the No. 7 Toyota Tundra. With his return to ESR, Bormann will serve as crew chief for the first time of his 13-year career within motorsports.
CollegeComplete.com on board: CollegeComplete.com will grace the hood of the No. 46 Toyota for the remainder of the season, beginning with this weekend’s event in Kentucky. Anthem College Online (www.anthemcollege.edu), Grand Canyon University (www.gcu.edu), Advance Payment Services (www.joinAPS.com), Howard University’s WHUR 96.3 FM (www.whur.com) and Papillon and Moyer Construction (www.papillon-moyer.com) will also join the No. 46 ESR entry as associate sponsors. “I couldn’t be more excited about this partnership with College Complete. It’s very hard these days for people to pursue higher education while balancing work and other obligations. Our partners at CollegeComplete.com , Anthem College Online, and Grand Canyon University make it easier for them to fit education into their lives. We’re providing the outlet to make race fans aware that there are other options out there,” Lofton explained of his new partners and their services.
Lofton at Kentucky: Last season in NCWTS competition Lofton started seventh and finished 11th at the 1.5-mile Kentucky Speedway. During his 2009 title run in ARCA Lofton made two starts at Kentucky with finishes of second and fifth. Lofton’s crew chief Bormann also knows a thing or two about getting around the Cincinnati-area track. Not only was he with Lofton in 2009 when he grabbed two top-five runs, but he also visited victory lane there in 2006 in the Nationwide Series as a crew member with driver David Gilliland.
Truck information: Lofton will race chassis ESR008 this weekend in Kentucky. It was last raced by Craig Goess at Texas. It has also been raced at other intermediate tracks including Kansas and Charlotte, logging a best finish of 18th the last time out in Texas.
Lofton on Kentucky: “Kentucky will be a lot of fun. It’s been a few weeks since we’ve had a race and to add to that my return with Eddie Sharp and my new crew chief Dan, I am really looking forward to it. We’ve had good runs there and I’m hoping to kick things off with this ESR team with another strong run.”
