Ricky Benton Racing forgoing Nashville, focusing on Lucas Oil Speedway
Press Release“Team looking for additional sponsorship for 2011″

The team has entered and raced in all 11 races in the NCWTS 2011 season to date. Originally the team was scheduled to only run the first five races and compete in 15 races all year. Buoyed by strong runs, the team expanded its race schedule, but team owner Ricky Benton feels their efforts would be best expended by skipping Nashville in preparation of a strong run at the short track outside of Indianapolis.
“I couldn’t be more proud of the work that these guys have done up to this point in the 2011 season,” said Benton. “(Driver) Clay (Rogers) and this whole team are exceeding expectations so far and I feel that by taking a step back (by not making the Nashville trip), we can make this program a lot stronger as we move forward in 2011 and beyond.”
Most of the members of the team that travel to the races are Black’s Tire and Auto (the company that Benton owns) employees who volunteer to prepare and service the truck at the track.
Even with the dedicated, mostly-volunteer group, the team is still looking for sponsorship dollars to help them in the highly competitive series.
“We have had some great marketing partners with Action Gator Tire, Dilmar Oil and Bingham Tire being on the truck in a few races. fleetHQ has been with us from the beginning and is amazing to work with,” Benton said. “I feel like we are right on the verge of running in the top-10 on a consistent basis and putting this truck in victory lane, if we can get some sponsorship help.”
With a third-place finish in the season opener, Rogers left Daytona with the series points lead. The team reeled off six top-20 finishes in the first seven races of the season. Wrecks at Kansas and Texas led to 28th- and 25th-place finishes. The team then bounced back with 17th-place finishes at Kentucky and Iowa.
Currently, Benton is 19th in the Truck Series owner’s points standings. Rogers is 17th in the driver’s points.
