Lofton, No. 6 Team Ready to Tackle Indy Short Track
Last race review: Justin Lofton and the No. 6 CollegeComplete.com team had a steady race last Friday at Nashville Superspeedway, earning a solid 15th place finish. Lofton started the 150-lap race from the 20th spot, battled a loose condition early, and fought back from a lap down to score his sixth top-15 finish of the season, and his fourth straight. The end result boosted him a position in the point standings to 17th, and also moved team owner Eddie Sharp to 19th in the owner standings.

Short truck stunner: Though last year’s run at LOR didn’t turn out as he had hoped, California native Lofton knows a thing or two about racing his way around short tracks. While racing under the Eddie Sharp Racing (ESR) banner in the ARCA Racing Series during his championship run in 2009, Lofton nabbed the trophies on short tracks in Toledo, Berlin, and Salem. Last season in NCWTS competition, Lofton tallied strong runs on the tour’s shorter tracks, including a third place run at the one-mile Dover, and a stellar fifth place run at one of the most challenging tracks, the famed half-mile in Bristol. This season, his highest qualifying effort to date of eighth came at the short track in Martinsville.
Truck information: Lofton will race chassis ESR133 this Friday at Lucas Oil Raceway. The truck was last raced by Craig Goess at Martinsville Speedway in April. He started the event 16th and finished 24th.
Lofton on Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis: “Short tracks are always a lot of fun. We had a good truck at LOR last year but didn’t get the finish we felt we should have. Dan (Bormann, crew chief) has made some great calls the last few weeks and we are going to Indy with the goal of the top-10. We’ve been picking up points and we’ve been real consistent since coming back to ESR. The top-10 is the next step.”
