Mooresville, N.C. (Aug. 17, 2011) – Brendan Gaughan loves the speed, size and competition level of Michigan International Speedway. The Las Vegas native has earned a victory in Brooklyn, MI, and heā€™s run up front both in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and Sprint Cup Series. Heā€™ll have a brand new racing chassis decked out as the No. 62 South Point Hotel & Casino Tundra when his crew turns him loose in first practice on Friday morning.

ā€œThe aero package is a huge part of success or failure at Michigan. At Germain Racing right now, all three teams have been struggling with our chassis setups, but aero is key at Michigan and itā€™s been something weā€™ve had a good handle on at Germain. The Tundra we will race is brand new. It went to the wind tunnel last week. I know Bryan Berry and the crew have high hopes for the South Point Hotel & Casino Tundra this week,ā€ said Gaughan.

Gaughan is known as a big-oval racer, and Michigan fits right into his list of favorite tracks. He explained why.

ā€œI love Michigan International Speedway. Over the years Iā€™ve had a ton of success at Michigan. I used to hold the record for fastest NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race there. I think I was on track to get the largest margin of victory there, but we just ended up with the win ā€“ which was obviously fine! Michigan is my style of race track. Itā€™s big and fast, there are multiple grooves. There are so many ways to get around the track and into the corners, but, I call it the ā€˜Michigan mergeā€™ because everyone kind of ends up in the same line coming off of the turns,ā€ said Gaughan.
