Finishing Position: 3rd
How was your race tonight?
“It was pretty interesting. About the 10th lap I lost the power steering so I’m a little tired. It was a great night with Valvoline on board again this year. Of course we have International Trucks, Monaco RVs and just great sponsors and great people to be involved with. We’ve had a tough year. A lot of mistakes that I’ve made — a couple runs that weren’t real good, but this Germain race team and all the guys from Randy Moss Motorsports — our motto is never give up and that’s what we did tonight. We pitted again when everybody else did and gave up some track position to get two tires so Junior (Mike Hillman, Jr., crew chief) could adjust it and it was the right move. The adjustments definitely helped me. We got some breaks at the end when guys run out of gas. I hate it for Brendan (Gaughan). He had such a great run going in the South Point Casino Tundra, but we kept digging and got a third.”
How difficult was it to race tonight without power steering?
“It’s pretty tough. Right in the middle of the corner the power steering would quit and that’s where the most load is on the tires. That’s where you’re turning the most and I’ve had to do it before. Fortunately, it wasn’t totally gone. Once the load would come off the front tires, it would come back. It made it difficult.”
Did you have a truck that could race with the leaders?
“I don’t know. On the restarts I ran with Kevin (Harvick) pretty well there for a few laps and that’s when the tires were coolest and that’s when the thing wasn’t locking up as bad. You never know.”
TIMOTHY PETERS, No. 17 Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra, Red Horse Racing
Finishing Position: 5th
How was your race tonight?
“It was eventful. I wish we could have got that fourth, but we just wore our right front out there. We couldn’t run the bottom — we could only run the top with our Crescent Hand Tools Tundra. Wrecked the primary in practice and the guys pulled this one out right here and the only two laps we had on the track, we qualified eighth. We look like your one-stop shop on pit road trying to throw some adjustments at it. The guys did a great job — not only here, but the guys back at the shop. We’ll carry this momentum to Atlanta.”
JUSTIN LOFTON, No. 6 CollegeComplete.com Toyota Tundra, Eddie Sharp Racing
Finishing Position: 7th
Did you enjoy racing at Bristol tonight?
“At Bristol — I don’t know, last year when I came here it just seemed like a special place that I like to run good at. We had a great run last year here and definitely wanted to come back and make it a little bit better. As far as my season is going — it was really good for everyone over on the Eddie Sharp CollegeComplete.com Toyota Tundra. Awesome racing. It’s a lot of fun to come race here. When you’re racing with world class guys like Nelson (Piquet) and Parker (Kligerman) and Joey (Coulter) and all of them. It’s a lot of fun racing around them and bang door to door and now wreck each other. Juts had a great time overall.”
DAVID STARR, No. 81 Advocare Toyota Tundra, SS Green Light Racing
Finishing Position: 11th
JOHANNA LONG, No. 20 Panhandle Grading Toyota Tundra, Panhandle Motorsports
Finishing Position: 15th
JOSH RICHARDS, No. 51 Joy Mining Machinery Toyota Tundra, Kyle Busch Motorsports
Finishing Position: 17th
BRENDAN GAUGHAN, No. 62 South Point Hotel & Casino Toyota Tundra, Germain Racing
Finishing Position: 20th
MAX PAPIS, No. 9 GEICO Toyota Tundra, Germain Racing
Finishing Position: 26th
KYLE BUSCH, No. 18 Dollar General Toyota Tundra, Kyle Busch Motorsports
Finishing Position: 30th
Do you think Elliott Sadler wrecked you intentionally?
“Yeah, I’m sure he did. Where does his paycheck come from? We were racing earlier tonight and I pulled a slide job on him and he ran into me three times after that. Then got clear of him for a while and on that restart there I was trying to slide him and get up to the top. The spotter said I was clear and I was clear at the time. Maybe I was too late. He wrecked us and I’m not going to put up with it.”
Did you have a truck that could win tonight?
“I don’t know. Track position is way too important. With these trucks here — the gears, the motors and everything we’ve got, it’s the wrong tire for here. Really hard to pass, but anything can happen. You can certainly make moves through traffic. I felt like we were probably the best truck here in practice, but it doesn’t matter right now.”
MIGUEL PALUDO, No. 7 STEMCO / Duroline Toyota Tundra, Red Horse Racing
Finishing Position: 31st
What happened to take you out of the race?
“It’s a shame for us — we had a good run going. We were going to stop one more time for more adjustments. We blew up. I just heard one big sound. It’s a shame, were doing a great job here and just wanted to keep it up for the final laps. Something happened in the engine.”
JOHN KING, No. 07 Edward Jones Investments Toyota Tundra, SS Green Light Racing
Finishing Position: 32nd
