No. 5 NTB / Service Central Toyota Tundra News and Notes
This Week’s Tundra…
The No. 5 NTB / Service Central team and Germain Racing driver Todd Bodine will utilize GR-019 in Saturday’s 200-lap NCWTS race at Martinsville Speedway. This is the same truck that Bodine most recently drove to an eighth-place finish at New Hampshire, and it was raced to a third-place finish at Bristol in August. Mike Hillman Jr. will once again be atop the pit box calling the shots for the defending series champion as this marks the 13th race of a collaborative effort between Germain Racing and Randy Moss Motorsports to field the No. 5 Tundra. Bodine has finished no worse than 13th in those 12 previous races, with an average finish of 8.5. Bodine is racing the NTB/Service Central paint scheme for the fifth time this season (Kansas, Texas, Atlanta and Talladega).· Track Stats… In 15 truck series starts at Martinsville, Bodine has 13 lead-lap finishes to his credit, including five top-five and eight top-10 finishes. In addition to his NCWTS stats, Bodine has one pole at Martinsville in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competition (October 2001).
· Closing the Gap… With his sixth-place finish last weekend at Talladega, Bodine advanced one position to move into sixth place in the driver point standings and is now just 17 points out of the top five with three races remaining.
· Watch and Listen… The Kroger 200 from Martinsville Speedway will be broadcast live on SPEED, MRN Radio and Sirius-XM NASCAR Radio, channel 90, on Saturday afternoon. SPEED kicks off its pre-race coverage at 1:30 p.m. EDT, and MRN Radio will begin its live broadcast at 1:45 p.m. EDT on Saturday, October 29. SPEED will also carry live broadcasts of final practice on Friday afternoon (2:00 p.m. EDT) and qualifying on Saturday morning (10:40 a.m. EDT).
Todd Bodine on Martinsville Speedway:
Strategy Heading into Martinsville?
“This team’s strategy is simple. We do what it takes to win. Whatever that may be. If we can’t win, we just get the best finish we can. That’s not gonna change. Do you gamble more than if you’re in the top spots in points? Maybe a little. Maybe you do something you wouldn’t normally do. Maybe you do something different pit strategy-wise that may put you in a better position at the end. It’s hard to say. We’ll do whatever it takes to get the best result we can from our NTB/Service Central Tundra.”
Martinsville is Familiar Surroundings for Bodine…
“I’ve been to races at Martinsville for years. I’ve watched my brothers race there, I know the track owners. I went to school up the street from the track. In so many ways, Martinsville Speedway is a home track for me. There’s no question, a win there would be a big career highlight for me.”
Crew Chief Mike Hillman Jr. on Martinsville:
“Our setup on the No. 5 Tundra will be similar to what we raced in April. The biggest difference is that Goodyear is giving us a different tire than what we’ve raced there in the past. We’ll look at what we’ve got in practice and adjust on the NTB/Service Central Tundra. Our goal this weekend is pretty simple. We want to win. There probably isn’t a single other track on the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series that we’ve done more testing to prepare for over the years. We’ve finished second there, we’ve finished third. This weekend, we want the win.”
