Matt Lofton to Make “Tricky Triangle” Debut Saturday at Pocono
Press Release
Lofton, vying for the 2012 Rookie of the Year honors, has never laid eye on the 2.5-mile paved triangle track nestled in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. He has spent countless hours studying race footage as well as talking with Coulter Motorsports teammate Joey Coulter about his past experiences. With the recent repaving project complete, few competitors have paced the new surface, allowing all previous advantages to disappear.
Coming off yet another fantastic finish, second at Elko Speedway last weekend, Lofton and his Jon Wolfe led Coulter Motorsports crew are riding a wave of momentum heading into the Pocono ARCA 200. After racking up his second career runner-up finish, Lofton finds himself eighth in the ARCA Racing Series driver championship point standing, just 150 points shy of the lead.
“Heading into Pocono (Raceway) this weekend proves to be very exciting,” said Lofton. “From what I have seen, it is a very unique track and has gained a lot of speed and grip with the repaving. I am excited to hit the track in my No. 16 Strutmasters.com, Coulter Motorsports Chevy.”
Lofton’s Pocono Raceway racing activity begins Friday with practice from 10:00-11:50 a.m. and qualifying at 2:05 p.m. The series will have a final “impound” limited adjustments practice from 5:10-6:00 p.m. The Pocono ARCA 200 will officially get underway Saturday at 1:30 p.m. (All times Eastern.)
