Over the Mountain 150 Preview

PASS SOUTH SERIES / HICKORY MOTOR SPEEDWAY

TRACK FACTS: .363-mile asphalt oval. Hickory Motor Speedway is the longest continually operating motor speedway in the country. This is the 61st season the historic track has provided fans with a family oriented atmosphere where they can experience the excitement of stock car racing.

TEAM TMR ON HICKORY MOTOR SPEEDWAY … Calling the shots this weekend is veteran crew chief Tommy Buzze; this will be the third time Jared will wheel around this track that carries so much history.

IT IS A SOCIAL MEDIA WEEKEND… The No. 12 TMR Dodge Charger will be sporting a different paint scheme for the Over the Mountain 150 featuring Jared on Twitter.

STATS AND STUFF … After coming out of Salem Speedway with a very impressive run in the ARCA Racing Series last week, racking up 5 top-10’s in 11 starts for the 2012 season, Jared will make his third appearance at Hickory Motor Speedway in the PASS South Series.

LAST TIME AROUND … Starting 7th for the Easter Bunny 150 in the spring, Jared finished seventh just behind Ross Kenseth, with Kyle Grissom taking the win.

MARKS TALKS HICKORY MOTOR SPEEDWAY:

There is so much history at Hickory Motor Speedway, what are your thoughts about racing there and why late models?

“It’s really exciting to have the opportunity to race at Hickory this weekend in such a competitive series. Everyone has so many great stories of legendary racers racing at Hickory; it is great to get the chance to race here too. We have a few weeks off in between our test and race at Kansas in the ARCA series and I try to get as much seat time as I can; the late model event this weekend happened to fall on a weekend we were off, so I thought we should go for it.”

The track has an abrasive racing surface and they are bringing a new tire compound this week, do you think there will be much of an adjustment for you since you normally compete in the ARCA Series?

“I know the new tire will cause the car to handle a bit differently since the last time I was here in the spring. We are going to take full advantage of the open practice on Friday and I am sure my crew chief Tommy and I can get it dialed in. I don’t run the late model on a regular basis, so I don’t think the transition from the ARCA car to our late model car will be much of an issue for me.”

RACE INFORMATION: A full afternoon of open practice is on the schedule for Friday, September 21. Track activity for Saturday will kick off at 2:00PM, continuing through the afternoon. Qualifying will take place at 4:30PM, with a short autograph session for the fans following. The green flag will fly at approximately 7:00PM (all times local) for 150 laps of short track action.
