Hello loyal readers and other folks. Hope your race weekend was a good one. Yessiree I do. Duck and I enjoyed ourselves way more than less, if ya know what I mean. It was sort of nice not worryin’ about how Duck was gonna react to whatever could have happened to Flippin’ Carl this weekend and I think he may have felt a tad bit of relief in that area too, if ya know what I mean. He does get fairly much out of hand when his idol has a rough race day which is fairly much every one here lately. I’m not pickin’ on Flippin’ Carl ya understand. I like him close to as much as Duck does. I’m just sayin sad for his season but more on Flippin’ Carl news later.

Anyway, Saturday was a day we got to get a lot of work done around here early. The trucks raced that evenin’ cause Cup was off and the Nationwide series was takin’ the Sunday race spot. It did start a tad bit on the late side but it was a good race so Duck and I were clearly able to stay awake for it and with it startin’ late we only needed refreshments on the crates. Lofton landed the pole followed by Coulter, WYG, TP and Leffler. FTWWTK Handsome Hornaday started 14th, PK started 17th and Bodine started 7th. The rest you can look up.

This was 150 laps of pure ol’ craziness. Oh my good and gracious LORD the action was non stop. Course Duck and I like those trucks and there are still a few of those older veteran racers runnin’ in that series. Seems to this granny some of those young guns, as they call ‘em, need to race with some of those older ones who can show ‘em straight up how it’s done right and how it’s handled if it ain’t done right. Know what I mean? But that’s neither here nor there.

Anyway seemed to Duck and I, and probably pert near everyone else, that Gaughan boy was gonna win that race. He sure is showin’ his stuff these days. Why that boy was the one to beat for 83 laps, and he’s only run 4 races in those trucks this year with 2 top-5s and 2 top-10s, so good for him I say! So the winner was just a total unexpected driver, let me tell ya that one somethin’ right now. Not because of his drivin’ ability. Why heck fire that boy had already won twice this season. Of course we are talkin’ about James Buescher, but ya have to understand that boy had to pull in the pits to change his carburetor durin’ the race and went 2 laps down for “Pete sakes” and still got those laps back, and on the last lap passed TP and Gaughan to win it! Oh my good and gracious LORD Duck and I haven’t whooped and hollered that much durin’ a race in quite a spell, so GOOD for that boy I say. Mercy me that was excitin’. Brendan finished 2nd followed by TP, Crafty Matt and Kligerman. FTWWTK Handsome Hornaday finished 7th, WYG finished 12th, Rick Crawford (another of my favorite veterans and so glad to see him racin’ again) finished 11th and TB finished 18th. The rest you can look up. As far as the standin’s TP is still the leader, WYG moved up a spot to 2nd and the rest you can look up too.

So we were fairly tired when we hit the sheets, let me tell ya that one somethin’ right now. It was nice not to lay there for hours, though and listen to Duck grumblin’ about Flippin’ Carl and the race so we both fell asleep pretty much, but not immediately, quick like.

So Sunday the Nationwide drivers hit the track mid afternoon. That gave Duck and I just enough time to get all hot doin’ chores and such, but we were excited to get the race goin’. We cooked our supper early so we could put it on the crates to eat durin’ the race. We had fried green tomatoes, fried corn bread and fried chicken livers with garlic…easy meal usin’ just one pan, course not all at once but ya know what I mean. Anyway no surprise at all the Ricky, Jr was on the pole followed by WOG, Hornish, Rowdy and Kligerman. FTWWTK Gaughan in the #33 started 10th, Johanna Long started 12th ahead of That Girl who started 13th, Curly Sadler started 15th and the rest you can look up. Well this race was a great way to top off the weekend. Why with all the action Duck and I barely, but not completely, missed the Cup drivers. Oh my good and gracious LORD it was truly excitin’. Just the way Duck and I like it. Yessirree it was!

We had heard the day before that Curly was sick, bless his heart. Why that boy even had his doctor with him to take care of him I hear tell. He decided to race anyway and by golly he sure is glad he did. That sick boy won that race and the “Dash4Cash” with the help of his teammate Justin Allgaier for pushin’ him to the front past Ricky, Jr. That sweet boy was real emotional tellin’ about some folks who lost their precious son and he dedicated that win to them. My oh my that was sweet. And that race was action packed lap after lap after lap. Ricky, Jr finished 2nd followed by Allgaier and that adorable funny man Kenny Wallace and Annett. FTWWTK WOG finished 6th, Front Row Joe finished 13th so way to go there Joe and yesterday’s truck series winner finished 28th after wreckin’ on lap 192 (sad for that boy I say) with Rowdy. Why only 14 cars finished on the lead lap. The rest yo can look up. So Curly is still the points leader, WOG is 2nd followed by Ricky Jr., Sam Jr., and Allgaier. The rest of the standin’s you can look up too.

Now for some other stuff. Childress announced this week that WOG won’t be hurried in to the Cup Series next year. Well good, good and good for Richard I say! I think some of these team owners get a wild hair and move those young uns up too quick like. And if they’re not ready with the right experience how are they gonna succeed? Know what I mean? Good for Richard I say. Course that man knows all about winners and how to do racin’ stuff the right way. I mean look at Dale, Sr. My oh my how that man is missed. Always will be to my way of thinkin’. Anyway.

Anyway, Duck and I were surprised and pleased I guess to hear Flippin’ Carl has a new crew chief. Sometimes changes just have to be made for whatever reasons. Know what I mean? Course Bob Osborne is gonna remain a important member of management at Roush Racin’ and well he should. New crew chief is gonna be Chad Norris who has been with Roush for quite a spell too, so good for all of them I say. Now everybody over there get excited and Flippin’, honey, go kick some racin’ rearends there dear. Know what I mean?

And finally AJ’s “B” urine test is set for tomorrow. He gets to have his own testin’ expert there. Good for him, I say. This stuff is very important stuff and his racin’ future is on the line. We’ve seen the results of some of these types of tests ruin a driver’s career in the last 5 or so years, so Duck and I are hopin’ all goes well for AJ and Roger.

I tried to get some sense about this stuff out of Petey (local pharmacist) behind the pill counter but I swear that boy is in his own little world much of the time. Makes me wonder, well nevermind. I will not be unkind. As you well know that goes against my nature.

Anyway, next week is Indy! Duck and I are already woohooin’ all over the place. We are gettin’ all goosey like but Duck hates it when I say it like that…somethin’ about Gracie the Goose and a wild Friday night and I don’t know what else cause it didn’t sound like somethin’ I wanted or needed to hear. So whatever I say!

Anyway there ya have it. Email, comment or don’t. Either way y’all know I’m a very busy woman. Granny and Duck over and out.
