Hattori Racing Scores Best Team Finish With Two Top-Five Finishes in the Jegs 150
Press Release
Brett Moffitt drove the #11 AISIN Toyota Camry to a strong second place finish and extended his lead in the points standings to 22 points.
“After qualifying, I wasn’t real happy with the car,” Moffitt explained. “We were too free and I was worried about the race, but as the sun went down our car came to life.“ Moffitt continues, “At the end of the race, the other Championship contenders had problems so we had a great points night for the second week in a row.”
Sergio Pena, driving the #1 Advics Toyota Camry overcame an early spin and a mistake by the spotter to finish a season high 4th place, Pena, a Winchester, VA native, spun on lap 39 while trying to pass another car.
“I got a run and got underneath Darrell (Wallace, Jr. in the #18) going into turn one, but off two I tried to keep the car down so I didn’t touch Darrell and got loose. I did a slow spin. But luckily didn’t damage the car though I did lose a lap but I got the lucky dog ten laps later.”
It was a good showing for both cars and the HRE team as their sponsors, Advics and AISIN had guests in the stands and in the garage area.
“We had a good night,” HRE team owner, Shigeaki Hattori stated. “We had the presidents from both AISIN and Advics in the garage area as our guests and to run so well with them in attendance will only help our program in the future.”
Both Pena and Moffitt, a Grimes, Iowa, native are looking forward the series next event at Iowa Speedway for the Pork Be Inspired 150 on Friday, August 3, 2012.
