Granny Grump: Charlotte, Iowa, Winners And Other StuffBy Granny Grump
Anyway Friday the Trucks took to the track at Charlotte. That’s always an excitin’ place but for some reason Duck and I didn’t get all goosey feelin’ durin’ this race(which is easy for Duck let me tell ya that one somethin’ right now) like we usually do when the Trucks race. Maybe we just had a bad batch of beans and ham hocks. That’s fairly possible considerin’ those after happenin’s but enough on that delicate subject and let’s get a move on here. So ain’t no surprise that WYG had the pole, Loftie was 2nd followed by Coulter, TP and Leffler. For those who want to know Ward’s boy Jeb was racin’ again but started back in the 21st spot. Handsome Hornaday started 15th, G/B Brad started 9th and the rest you can look up.
No breakdowns (not meant as a funny neither) on this race, but I will say it was 134 laps, that 22 trucks finished on the lead lap which is pretty darn good considerin’ the lower startin’ number the trucks have and that Duck and I are quite takin’ with Ward’s boy. Loftie won this race. G/B Brad finished 2nd just before he went over and got in Handsome Hornaday’s face. Course we all heard the sounds. G/B is a potty mouth. Maybe Ron should have washed that boys mouth out while he cleaned his carburetor for him. I’m not promotin’ violence ya understand. Guess I’m just old school. I’m just sayin’ maybe there is some stuff Handsome won’t take anymore either G/B. Know what I mean? Anyway TBo finished 3rd followed by Leffler and Handsome. WYG finished 10th, Jeb finished 8th and the rest you can look up includin’ the points standin’s.
So Saturday was that wild All Star Race and the changed up schedule when all 3 series are racin’ day for the Cup racers. This is one of those fun races where points don’t matter but the winner in the last part of the race makes a big ol’ bank deposit. Know what I mean? Seems like this race and the way it’s run is always changin’ and that’s a good one somethin’ Duck and I think. The first segment was to determine who was gonna transfer to the main segmented event. JR had to race his way in to the event or be voted in by the fans. Good deal he won that first race cause that left the fans to vote that precious Bobby LaBonte in so good for both on them I say! There was a total of 90 laps. You’d think with that low lap count the race would fly by but nope it didn’t and I enjoyed every lap. Yes I did but Duck, bless him, didn’t and neither did Flippin Carl and bless that boy too. Course that’s why Ducks tail feathers were all ruffled up cause while Carl made it to the 2nd segment he wrecked 5 laps into it. Oh my good and gracious LORD the fit throwin’, feather flyin’ mess in this here room was, well, a mess. Really Duck? Really? Why you couldn’t cuss the cat without gettin’ a mouthful of feathers! Why I had my self a fit throwin’ spell too. Duck was told to sit down amongst this mess, shut up and watch or get his bird butt out of here. He chose the first option and the mess waited until the end. Course Not Same Champ (but tryin’ hard lately) Jimmie won all that money. And not that it counts as a payday at all to the rest of the field but G/B finished 2nd followed by Robo, Rowdy and JR. Good for them all I say. For those who want to know the only other racer that didn’t finish was Biff who’s engine blew up on lap 67. The rest you can look up.
I poured myself a cold glass of buttermilk, went out on the front porch and listened to the pleasant sound of duck grumblin’s and broom bristles on the floors. I slept well that night with a smile on my face. Yessirree I did!
So after a good night’s sleep I was ready for the Nationwide race on Sunday. These schedule changes get me a bit mixed up, but that’s neither there nor there, I’m just sayin’. Now this was more than just a different day the Nationwide Series raced. They raced at Iowa. I just thought that was a bit on the strange side but I guess somebody’s got to race there. Now I like that track. I truly do. It’s a fun race to watch but I just meant with everybody else in Charlotte with all that excitement it was strange. Oh well, nevermind.
Anyway this race was 250 laps of pure crazy. Curly adorable Sadler landed the pole followed by Hornish, Ricky Jr, McDowell and Allgaier. For those who want to know Gibbs had a new driver behind the wheel of the #20, Darrell Wallace, Jr, who started 8th, Big Brother Busch started 31st, WOG started 6th and the rest you can look up. You couldn’t scratch an itch without missin’ somebody goin’ down a lap or wreckin’ or somethin’ else. I had to go outside for a potty break a couple of times and I missed a whole lot of stuff let me tell ya that one somethin’ right now.Anyway only 26 cars finished this race because of wrecks, engines blowin’ up and whatever else. Sad for all of those racers I say! That Girl’s learnin’ curve is still sendin’ her into the wall. She only finished 113 laps so sad for her I say and I really mean that!. I’m likin’ her more and more but I have to admit that I like that Nationwide commercial where Dale leaves her at the track. He’s so cute but none of that is neither there nor there. I’m just sayin’.
Anyway of the 26 cars that finished the race only 13 finished on the lead lap. That cute as can be Ricky, Jr won that race. Mercy me that boy is a cutie. Anyway that sweet Curly finished 2nd followed by MM, WOG and Big Brother Busch. For those who want to know the newbie Gibbs driver Darrell Wallace, Jr finished 9th so a real big good for him I say! The rest you can look up.
Duck and I have chores to do so I have to wind this here race report up but here is a couple of “other stuff” stuff.
First off G/B’s fit throwin’ and cussin’ in Hornaday’s face. Now looka here young man. Haven’t you ever heard “He who is without rubbin’ or bumpin’ on the race track ain’t really racin’?” You of all potty mouthed people should clean your own bumper before someone else does it for you, darlin’. I mean really G/B? Really? Ugly actin’ to always gets ugly actin’ done to. Know what I mean?
And finally did you see that pretty young girlie standin’ with JR? I believe I have seen her a time or 2 before. Now I adore that boy purely and simply and admit it willin’ly and I think from face value that boy has real good taste! Course that’s neither here nor there, I’m just sayin’.
So there ya have all I’ve got time for. Email, comment or don’t. Don’t care either way cause I’m a very busy woman. Granny and Duck over and out.
