Kyle Busch, with a new NSCS qualifying track record speed of 138.766 mph (previously held by Carl Edwards with a lap speed of 137.279 mph, in Feb. 2011) captured the 2012 AdvoCare 500k Coors Light Pole Award at Phoenix International Raceway.

This was Busch’s second series pole of the 2012 season, his tenth series career pole and his second series pole at Phoenix International Raceway.

Martin Truex, Jr., will start from the outside pole with a qualifying lap speed of 138.217 mph, and he will be followed by Denny Hamlin (137.578 mph) starting third, Kasey Kahne (137.478) fourth and Aric Almirola (137.211) starts from fifth.

Rounding out the top-ten starting positions will be Kurt Busch (137.007) lining up in sixth, Paul Menard (136.992) seventh, Regan Smith (136.872) eighth, while  Tony Stewart and Mark Martin with the identical lap speed (136.867) will start from ninth and tenth positions respectively.

Failing to make the starting lineup was the #37 driven by J.J. Yeley.

The teams will return to the track on Saturday for two more practice sessions (11:30 am – 12:25 pm & “Happy Hour:” 2:35 pm – 3:25 pm ET) before returnin Sunday afternoon for the 25th annual AdvoCare 500k. The race is scheduled to get underway around 3:20 pm (ET) and ESPN will provide television coverage beginning with their 2:00 pm (ET) NASCAR Countdown pre-race show.
