Jennifer Jo Cobb Puts Her Dad In The Seat For Eldora SpeedwayPress Release
“When I saw Eldora on the schedule this year I was excited and immediately thought about how I could get my dad set up to race there,” said Jennifer. “I do not come from a family with money or a lot of resources and my parents had to give up a lot in order for me to race. I thought this would be the perfect way to thank my Dad for all he has done for me.”
The 66 year old Kansas City native started racing in 1976 when Jennifer was 3 years old. He won his first race on her birthday. From a young age Jennifer was fascinated by her dad’s passion for racing and his ability to have success with such limited resources. She knew when she was 8 years old she wanted to grow up to be a race car driver. Although Joe was initially skeptical, once he saw her determination he jumped in with both feet to build her cars and coach her as a driver.
The tables have now turned as Jennifer will be coaching Joe at Eldora. She’ll likely be on the spotters stand and in the pits helping fine tune the truck.
“When Jennifer gets something in her mind, you might as well just agree and find a way to support her,” explained Joe. “I never thought that I would have an opportunity like this. It just always seemed unreachable. There’s a little pressure to perform so now I know how Jen feels!”
