Johnny Benson, No. 1 Red Horse Racing TOYOTA Tundra
The last time Johnny Benson visited Martinsville Speedway he made a trip to victory lane that helped him win the Camping World Truck Series title and the defending champ looks to make it back-to-back wins in Saturday’s Kroger 250.

Saturday’s race will mark Benson’s 12th Camping World Truck Series start at Martinsville Speedway. In 11 previous races, he has earned one win, three top-five and five top-10 finishes. He has logged 2222 laps around Martinsville’s tight corners including 46 laps led.

The veteran driver is no stranger to Martinsville with 30 starts in Sprint Cup, Nationwide, and Camping World Series competition.

Benson and the No. 1 Red Horse Racing team plan to carry the momentum from their first top-10 finish of the season two weeks ago at Atlanta Motor Speedway to the season’s first short track race of the year.

They don't make millions, have high-dollar endorsement deals or charge insulting fees for autograph sessions. It's a fast elevator ride from the mezzanine to the John Lennon Suite on the 17th floor of Montreal's Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth hotel, but there's plenty of time for driver Jason Leffler to needle Joe Balash, NASCAR's Nationwide Series director. "When am I going to get my five laps back?" ...more»

Truck series short of sponsors; long on enthusiasm

Sponsorship in NASCAR's Camping World Truck Series is the exception rather than the rule in these tough economic times. Even so, each of the first three races has had full, 36-truck fields -- and the same is expected this week at Martinsville. "It truly is passion versus profit," said Tom DeLoach, owner ...more»
